This is an incredible studio art pottery bowl made by Vally
Werner Ceramic Studio in California in the 1940's. It shows tooled
work as well as a crackled glaze features. Vally Werner's sense of
form and technical mastery of glazing and firing is always evident
in the output of this pottery. Only active in the 1940's to 1950's,
the pots they made don't exist in great numbers. I've seen very few
of them myself. Vally Werner has been featured in Jack
Chapman’s Scrapbook.
The leaf bowl is 10" in length, 6 ¼” wide, and 1
½” high. There is a small chip on edge of the leaf bowl
evident in the photo, otherwise in excellent vintage condition.
